Volunteering at Old Hall

Muck & Magic

Escape the toil of daily life and immerse yourself in the toil of the soil

We welcome volunteers and members of the WWOOF organisation from the spring onwards

Please note: We have no more spaces for volunteers during the year 2010. We start again for next years intake in late January 2011. Please write then if you want to come next year. Thank you.

Come and join us for a couple of weeks

We provide meals and accommodation in return for your help of thirty hours per week working in the gardens, or on the farmland, or with the animals or sometimes on our building and decorating projects - depending on your skills, the time of year and the activities we are engaged in

You will work alongside members of the community and alongside other volunteers in a relaxed atmosphere. On your time off we can provide you with a bicycle or you can go for walks in the beautiful Constable countryside around us. There are regular trains to London from the local railway station and buses serve the nearby historic towns of Colchester and Ipswich. On summer evenings there is nearly always a game of football or volleyball happening

Volunteers who have previously visited us for a week or two sometimes ask to visit again the following year for a longer period. Depending on our volunteer programme we can often accommodate this request. There is however a limit to the number of volunteers we can accommodate at any one time and so please do not be disappointed if we cannot fit you in at precisely the time you want to come

For more information about volunteering you can e mail us at The Volunteer Secretary

Alternatively you can write to our volunteer/WWOOFer co-ordinators at the address on the home page. We will need to know some information about you: who you are, where you are coming from, why you want to visit us, what your interests are and when you would like to come. This information should either be sent by letter or by email. Your contact information will also be needed
