If you contacted us regarding volunteering during January 2012 and did not receive a reply, please contact us again, as there seems to have been a problem with our email.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Escape the toil of daily life and immerse yourself in the toil of the soil. We welcome volunteers and members of the WWOOF organisation from the spring until the autumn. We start processing volunteering applications in late January and so that is the time to contact us.
Come and join us for a couple of weeks.
We provide meals and accommodation in return for your help of thirty hours per week working in the gardens, or on the farmland, or with the animals or sometimes on our building and decorating projects – depending on your skills, the time of year and the activities we are engaged in. You will work alongside members of the community and alongside other volunteers in a relaxed atmosphere. On your time off we can provide you with a bicycle or you can go for walks in the beautiful Constable countryside around us. There are regular trains to London from the local railway station and buses serve the nearby historic towns of Colchester and Ipswich. On summer evenings there is nearly always a game of football or volleyball happening.
There is however a limit to the number of volunteers we can accommodate at any one time and so please do not be disappointed if we cannot fit you in at precisely the time you want to come
If you would like to volunteer you can either write us a letter or send us an email to volunteers@oldhall.org.uk giving us information about yourself, who you are, what skills and interests you would be bringing, why you want to visit Old Hall, where you are coming from and the dates when you would like to come. Remember your stay is for two weeks. You should not book your travel until your stay here is confirmed by us.
